Summary
I love Lisbon, one of Europe’s most beautiful capital cities, and the locations on its western flanks – in particular Cascais, Estoril and Sintra. But until now I haven’t strayed south to the Setubal Peninsula: much less well known, but full of surprises. Do try O Barbas – an amazing seafood restaurant overlooking the Atlantic in Costa da Caparica; the wild, windy and atmospheric cape of Espichel; and Setubal itself, a sleepy, friendly city.

| 0:08.2 | And you're very welcome to join me. I left you on Friday, if you were kind enough to listen to that podcast, in the beautiful Portuguese island of Madeira. |
| 0:18.5 | I'm now on the mainland. I flew into Lisbon, picked up a rental car, |

| 0:57.5 | have such a splendid outlook. |
| 1:00.4 | There is a fine bridge that crosses it. |
| 1:03.1 | It's called the 25th of April Bridge over the revolution that in the 1970s ended the dictatorship and brought democracy, the carnation, |
| 1:17.0 | revolution, I believe. Anyway, it's a look-alike for the Sydney Harbour Bridge. No, forgive me, |
| 1:24.1 | the Golden Gate Bridge. Cricy, it looks nothing like the Sydney Harbour Bridge. |
| 1:29.7 | It is a very graceful suspension bridge like the Golden Gate Bridge. |
| 1:35.2 | And it takes you over to the Stubol Peninsula. |
| 1:38.9 | Now, this is ridiculously close to central Lisbon. |
| 1:48.0 | In fact, you can see the western suburbs of Lisbon stretching out from pretty much anywhere on the peninsula that's high up. |
| 1:54.0 | But it contains all kinds of minor miracles. |
| 1:57.0 | And I want to tell you about some of them so that perhaps if you're lucky enough to come to the |
