Of course, on inauguration day, I had to go out there in the streets to ask people what it was

like. Frankly, the streets were nearly empty. Because of the violence at the Capitol on the 6th,

dozens of square blocks of the city were locked down tight and there were no personal vehicles

permitted. My conversation with Master Sergeant George Roche, a public information officer for the National Guard,

happened at a key moment.
