0:00.0	Welcome to the beat. I'm Katie Fang in for Ariam Elber. We begin tonight's show with our country
0:05.2	grappling with yet another mass shooting this one in Virginia. It happened last night just three days
0:12.0	after the Colorado Springs massacre and the LGBTQ nightclub shooting suspect making his first
0:17.7	court appearance today virtually from jail. The suspect wasn't handcuffs with a bruised face,
0:24.2	speaking low only to answer the judges questions. The defendant was arrested on the five counts
0:29.6	of murder and hate crimes. Anderson Aldrich, did you watch the video concerning your constitutional
0:37.3	rights in this case? According to court documents filed by the defense attorney, the suspect identifies
0:45.4	as non-binary and uses they them pronouns. Now this is coming from the defense and there are still
0:52.2	several open questions about the suspect. The district attorney saying the formal charges will come
0:58.4	at the next hearing. He was advised of his rights, constitutional rights. He acknowledged those rights.
1:07.0	He is being held without bond pending further proceedings. The next court date is December 6th.
1:12.1	So formal charges will happen at the next court date. The charges that have been reported in the
1:16.9	media are the arrest charges only. We will be reviewing and we'll be filing formal charges at that time.
1:23.0	And late last night another mass shooting. The gunman, a Walmart employee and Chesapeake, Virginia
1:29.9	reportedly opening fire on fellow employees in the break room, killing six. The victims have
1:36.4	all been identified and includes a 16 year old boy. The shooter using a pistol when law enforcement
1:43.2	arrived on the scene, the shooter was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The FBI is now
1:49.6	assisting in the investigation and there is no clear motive as of yet.
1:55.8	We are all praying for the family, friends and co-workers of everyone that's affected by this
2:01.1	senseless violence. Your Chesapeake community is here for you and we'll continue to be here for you
2:07.2	during the difficult days, months and years ahead. The country now grappling yet again with what
