Marvel Entertainment. This is Entertainment writer Jim Hill and my co-host, The Amazing

Iron Adams and I, are recording this week's episode on May 17, 2021. This is the day after

the MTV movie and TV show award show. Do you still pay attention? I mean, I know you're in

radio, but do you still pay attention at all time TV? I didn't even know MTV still existed

until you just said that they had an award show. I was almost speculating, did they come back

out of retirement for this award show? Or is there a channel that they're on?

You know, I was out of high school. I was in college when MTV's kind of exploded,

but it was interesting to watch the impact it had on on movies. I mean, literally, you'd have

people who had videos that were huge successes on MTV that would then get gigs

to direct films because they wanted that look and they wanted that style.

Yeah, it was quick editing. That was the invention of, I don't want to say digital editing,

but it was very, very fast, blinky editing that just kind of, I think it was the beginning of

the ADHD culture. It could be. Yeah, can you take in this three-minute story and these

blinky, blinky little cuts? Why does that remind me of the blipverts, the max headroom?

Yeah, yeah, totally. Okay, something edited so quick, your head explodes. So given that

MTV had such an impact on film in the 80s, kind of logically, they launched their own movie

award show and then over time it got changed for a movie to a TV award show because of,

you know, what's going on with streaming? And which brings us to what happened last night,

which is Marvel Studios did ridiculously well. Taking home six awards for its limited series

that it's now being presented over Disney+. One division picked up four. It got best show,
