We're recording the show on a very big day for Marvel fans on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019, to be exact, the day that the nominations for the 91st Academy Awards were announced. And you must have seen the news? Very very short

diversion because my broadcast career involved having to consume stuff I didn't

really care about Academy Awards Oscars and all music award shows. I had to watch as

part of my job so I could talk about them on the air the next day. So after I got off the year,

I have not watched an Academy Awards and Oscars anything since then and

I've been perfectly fine by that. Okay. I mean I'm okay when the when the news hits

and I find out someone won that I like that movie I'll go oh brav Bravo very good that pleases me but as far as the whole horse and pony show I skip it entirely

Today a special day that first time ever superhero movie received the nomination for Best Picture.

To be specific, a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Black Panther, is one of the eight current

in the running for Hollywood's top award.

Black Panther, if you want to be entirely truthful here,

owes its best picture nomination really to the Dark Knight.

I don't know if this was before you unplugged from covering the Academy Awards and all that, but back in January of 2009 when the nominations for the 81st Academy Award were announced and Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight didn't receive a

nomination for Best Picture, Nor was Nolan nominated for Best Director that was this huge

human cry and mind you the film did pick up eight nominations that year most

notable there was the one for Heath Ledger's work as the Joker what was it he was

the only one of two people in all of Hollywood history that are

taken of a posthumous Academy Award. I want to say Peter Finch. He won Best Actor back and I want to say 77 for his his work in

Network which two months before the Oscars dropped dead of a heart attack in the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel.

So and we all know about Heath Ledger's passing but but yeah dark night had eight
