Hello and welcome to Marshall Matters with me, Winston Marshall, at the Spectator offices in

London. You might have seen since 2019 the

Dutch farmers have been taking the tractors to the highways, their hay bales stacking up

across the roads, protesting various government policies against the so-called nitrogen crisis.

And this week, the BBB, the Berger-Boa-Bewa-Bewaging, which I think I

pronounce probably incorrectly, or the Farmers Citizens Movement, a new political party representing

the farmers have won 17 seats in the Dutch Senate, becoming the largest party in the Senate, seven ahead of Mark

Rotas VVD with 10 seats. And it seems like somewhat of a revolution is going down in the Netherlands.

And to discuss what's happening and to give me a history of the protests and maybe more is political activist, a woman that you might

have seen at the forefront of some of those protests, but also a legal scholar, a journalist,

and political commentator, Ava Vlar Dengers, Broke.
