They completed their 40th flight about a week ago on the 19th of January the flight it

was predicted to go a certain distance and fly a certain time it actually flew about

seven seconds longer and 23 feet farther than planned and that was probably because it

was landing in rough terrain and the computer software the new software it had had to find

a flat spot the good spot to land on and it did and it landed and so it was completed

it's 40th flight it is now well positioned at the head of the valley hollow that both

that perseverance is going to climb up on to the delta and zero crater it's now right

at the head of that and perseverance is behind it and it's in a good position now to scout

ahead for perseverance as they move up down to the delta and so this is good and they

continue to prove out the technology of flying a helicopter on Mars John for future missions

because they're going to be future missions a sample of a term is going to use a helicopter

and they're already doing studies to use a helicopter in a variety of different places

and Mars including the giant canyon dollars and to curiosity the original rover climbing

No the terrain isn't so much rough they've reached a a flat area called they call the

Malka Band this is a flat geological layer that is visible at the proximity of the

same elevation on the flanks of Mount Sharp all around the mountain so it's a very interesting

geological spot and they've been waiting to get up to it and the rover is now finally
