but we also started off the live by celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

One time for Dr. King and for Coretta Scott King, for fighting to make this a federal holiday.

No matter what this current administration would like to do, we will continue to speak

the name and voice and memory and the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. So especially because

there's so much conversation around the Nobel Peace Prize, I found this speech earlier.

And it was inspiring to me. And I think right now more than ever,

we need some inspiration. So I want to share an adapted reading inspired by Dr. Martin Luther

King Jr.'s Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, because his words still speak directly to where

we are today. So this is some of what he said. Tonight, I accept this honor with deep

humility and with an unshakable faith in humanity's future. I do not receive it as a personal

achievement, but as a tribute to a movement, a movement rooted in dignity, sacrifice, and the

belief that justice can rise even in the face of cruelty and violence. I stand here believing

that truth, though wounded, is never defeated, and that love, unconditional and unharmed,

remains the most powerful force available to humankind.

History may twist and turn, but justice has a way of standing back up.
