i'm mark how are you very good hey we haven't talked in a while i wanted to ask you about some

things gilbert godfrey now we both knew gilbert godfrey you worked with him i you know and i love the

guy but i didn't realize how brilliant he was till after his death, and I started watching all these things, all these videos, he was, he was underestimated, wasn't he?

Well, I got to tell you something, you're absolutely right. I mean, Gilbert, on the face of it,

was a bit of a sideshow, okay? He was this little guy, guy, had that voice and, um, he told these crazy jokes and he got

very dirty and, uh, whatever.

But as you watched him more and more, you saw that he was brilliant.

He was, he knew how to, uh, work in audience.

He knew what the edge was and went over it.

And I spoke at his funeral.

And you can actually do it because they live streamed it.

And if you look at it, Jeffrey Ross spoke.

I spoke, Susie Esmond did.

And as more and more people spoke, the laughter grew and grew, but the love for the guy

and the respect for the guy grew and grew.

You know, his widow, Darra was a doll.

I got on Facebook the other day, I mean, this would really blow you away.

You got a letter of condolence about the brilliance of Gilbert from Martin Scorsese.

Now, on the face of it, a second, Martin Scorsese, Gilbert Gott Gottfried, it doesn't, it's not in sync, you know, but he was really, he was appreciated, but that after he passed, I think when people gave it some time, and so would everybody else thought, yeah, he's reached a level where people are reexamining it if you didn't appreciate it while he was alive yeah you know um you know when you're kind of dirty you know when you're

really skilled at it like you're Howard Stern you can go right to the edge you know right where

that line is and you can almost kind of tight rope on that line but g But Gilbert would go right across it into outer space and just see what was there.
