Well, Ray Kelly is the greatest police commissioner ever, the longest serving police commissioner in New York City, and always an honor to have him with us. Ray Kelly, how are you?

Hey, before we get the anything else, let me ask you about this. Everybody's talking about this Steve Buscemi case. A nut comes out of nowhere, punches him in the face. We see more and

more of this. It's so random. How can you police against this? It's very difficult. I mean,

these people are obviously deranged. They should be away. It should be receiving some sort of mental

health, mental treatment. You know, the problem is that the institutional beds just are not there.

They really haven't been there since the 70s when the thinking was that we're going to give people drugs

that are going to take care of their problems rather than putting them in institutions.

But that's not the case for a core number of people.

You can see the on the streets in New York that they're out there all over the place.

So there's very little like the police can do for this.

They've taken in the custody.

They held for 48 hours at a hospital, and then they let go.

They put them back out of the street.

They don't have the bed space to keep them overnight.

One of the reasons for that, apparently, is that the hospitals don't get sufficient money

to keep them in the hospital for extended periods of time.

So it's a multi-tasseted problem, but it doesn't have, in my view, a short-term

solution. We need those bed spaces to be greatly increased. Yeah. Well, the good thing you've got

these surveillance cameras everywhere. So an hour later, here's a picture of them all over the

news. We can see the guy. What did you guys do years ago before you had all this surveillance

video? How could you find the guy?
