You remember AFPAC? A lot of people remember AFPAC.

I was right.

And everybody knows I was right about Marjorie Taylor Greene who got the boot finally from the House Freedom Caucus.

Actually, she got the boot two whole weeks ago, but somehow we're just now finding out.

That's because the Freedom Caucus doesn't have a public membership, its meetings are held in secret, and what is said at them isn't disclosed.

This is Washington, of course, so things leak.

And what has leaked is that the Freedom Caucus is fed up with Marjorie Taylor Greene for being a relentless shell on behalf of Kevin McCarthy among other things.

So they've made her the first ever Freedom Caucus member to get kicked out of the group. Our take is, that's a great start.

The Freedom Caucus is not as old as you might think.

If you associate it with anything at all, it's probably with the Tea Party movement of 2009 and 2010,

but the House Freedom Caucus actually only started in 2015 in response to the many disappointments that happen in the four years after Republicans won back the House of Representatives.

The purpose of the House Freedom Caucus from the beginning, let's be clear, was to make Republican leadership more conservative, more conservative on spending, more conservative on social issues,

more conservative on whatever they could get their hands on.

The other purpose of the Freedom Caucus was to allow rank and file Republicans to have more sway because, in fact, for the most part, the GOP elites liked their party to be run like an army or like a corporation.

One guy at the top, calling all of the shots, and everyone else just has to sit there and listen, shut up and do nothing, rendering them completely ineffective and neutered and castrated and feckless and cowardly.

Well, in 2015, the Freedom Caucus brought down Speaker John Boehner because he kept conservatives out of leadership posts in the House, and because his 2016 budget refused to defund Plan Parenthood. He was a disgusting creature.

So they managed to bring down Boehner, but then we got stuck with Paul Ryan for the next three years. Be careful what you wish for, I guess, is the message.

In 2018, the Freedom Caucus helped bring down Ryan because of his inaction on the border and a bunch of other pieces in President Trump's agenda.
