Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, was a naive young woman under a great deal of pressure and expectation.

Her out-of-touch excesses infuriated the people and contributed to the

French Revolution and her downfall. Maria Antonia was born in Vienna, the youngest daughter and 15th

child of Empress Maria Teresa and Francis I. Holy Roman Emperor. She was born on November 2nd, 1755, All Souls Day,

on which Catholics mourn the dead, and everything is black. So during her childhood, her

birthday was celebrated on the day before, All Saints Day, where everything is gold and white.

She was especially close to her older sister,

Maria Carolina, and the pair were often separated by their mother for their naughtiness. She had a loving,

but often difficult relationship with her mother, who called her Little Madame Antoine. At the
