And today we're going to look back to September of 2020 and talk to one of the most decorated personalities covering the NFL in the media right now.

Marcus Spears, ESPN NFL analyst, former NFL player. He joined us back in September of 2020.

We had a chance to talk a lot about his playing career, about becoming a

television celebrity, weirdly enough as an ESPN analyst, but the most important thing, and the thing

that I always want to talk to when we have guests on our show, is their faith walk, their faith

journey.

So I asked Marcus, tell us about your journey with the Lord. This is Marcus Spears on the Sports

Spectrum Minute here on Sports Spectrum's podcast. Well, I'm a, I'm a black southern young man

that was in church every time the door was open. My mom sung in the choir.

She played the piano.

I sung in the choir.

My sister sung in the choir.

We got our ears pinching butch wood for acting bad in the pews.

And learned about the Lord early in life.

You know, initially you just going to church. You're young and you want to see

your friends and y'all got Sunday school and you're looking forward to the dinners after church.

And then you have that part where you realize, you look around and you're like, why all these people

shouting and jumping up and down and catching the Holy Ghost and, you know,

you go for the theatrics, you go to laugh and you go to hear the music.

So a lot of my church, a lot of my faith early was going to church because I liked the music.
