So we want to talk with you about an issue that all of a sudden is becoming kind of a big topic on the

road to 2020 among Democratic contenders for president, and that is the issue of court packing,

adding seats to the U.S. Supreme Court, and there's a couple of different ideas out there.

But let's start with some basic information. What, in fact, if anything, does the Constitution say about the size of the U.S. Supreme Court?

Virtually nothing.

The Constitution says that there will be one Supreme Court, and it mentions that there will be Chief Justice.

But it's always been up to Congress to decide how big the court is going to be.

Originally, it was six, and then it was lowered briefly to five,

and then went up to seven and nine as the country expanded.
