It's official Democrats did it. After chugging along for months, the biggest standalone

stimulus bill in U.S. history is signed, sealed, and delivered. Meaning as soon as this weekend,

Americans could wake up with those long-awaited

government checks in their bank accounts. We've got the latest for you this morning on the spending

bill that finally became law yesterday, plus a juicy scoop on the Trump-GOP fundraising drama,

updates on gun control legislation, and more. But first, about that speech last night,

it might have been the most poignant moment yet

of Biden's seven odd weeks in office. And it gave us two new dates to circle on our calendars.

May 1. The deadline Biden's setting for states to make shots available to all American adults

and July 4th. That's when the administration says the country could finally return to normal, or at least

some version of it. We can smell the cookouts already. It makes me want a hot dog real bad. Now this July

4th date, it's a pretty big deal. More than 400 days after COVID-19 first upended American life,

it's the first date Biden set for Americans to really expect things

to turn around. Until last night, he's tried not to set overly ambitious targets related to the

coronavirus. And this new date, Biden stressed, comes with a caveat. The virus is still a very real threat.

Most people haven't been vaccinated yet. And Americans will need to stay vigilant to get to this target.

I need every American to do their part.

And that's not hyperbole.

I need you.
