Let's talk about just the brain and what this means to apply everything that you're learning and

0:07.4

you know all this I don't even know neuroscience. So for somebody just starting out like, you know, we're teaching influence and there's a book that I've read called

0:18.0

influenced by Robert. Did it pronounce Chaldini? Yeah. And so and he also wrote pre-Suasion, correct? So they're both, I don't even know how to describe them. I've read them, I'm like, okay, that makes sense. They were things I was naturally doing without knowing, but it all started to make sense like, okay, that's how you, you know, have influence on people, how you can convince them to do things and like people think it might be manipulative but

0:45.2

it's like no that's I mean that's what sales and marketing is you're trying to

0:47.9

convince them to follow you to watch this to buy your thing like it's it is what it is.

0:53.4

Well this the it is how humans function we all try to influence the world around us to

0:59.2

either keep us safe to progress us forward in some way she perform. Our kids are influencing us with

1:03.5

baby faces and all public dog faces. Our wives influence us, you know, and in so many

1:09.0

different ways it is part of human nature to utilize the resources that we have.

1:13.4

And so to me, because I spend a lot of time in influence and manipulation, what's a difference,

1:18.0

right? And so the best I've come away with is three components.

1:21.5

One is manipulation is persuasion to an extreme.

1:26.2

There's an extreme nature to it and then with at the expense of someone else

1:31.7

and done underhandly.

1:33.0

Okay. So if those three come together, now you're in a shady area.

1:36.0

But true influence is the expression and the desire to push towards a goal that serves both of you and it's done out in the open.

1:45.0

Like you know I was telling people I said in today's world I say hey I'm going to put my pitch

1:47.8

out I don't want to sell you on this and here's why because I believe and what's going on

1:50.8

and I can tell you I'm going to sell you on that something I can tell you I want you to buy this and what's going on. I can tell you I'm going to sell you on that something I tell you I want you to buy this and there's nothing underhanded about that and it can be strong but coming from a place of caring enough to be unreasonable and so you can find that balance in there. And so I think the thing when you talk about influence, what I, one of the things that I look at is most and many of the decisions and things that we do and decide, we're not even aware of the influences that got us there. We think that we're making these decisions, but there's all of these processes, all these things that are functioning in the background to start shaping the reality in front of us and then that reality is where we

2:24.1

based our decisions on and so when you can go back instead of trying to change

2:27.4

behavior which you will get resistance from change how you eat change how you dress, if you try to change behavior,

2:35.0

you'll get resistance because you're not dealing with what caused it. You have to go back to what
