Hello, this is Dana Steven Slate's movie critic, and I'm here with a Slate, spoiler special podcast on Mama Mia, here we go again, the sequel to the 2008 Abba Jukebox musical.

Joining me in the studio in New York to talk about Mamma Mia is June Thomas. June, how are you?

I'm very well. I can't believe that 10 years have passed since that first one.

When I saw that date, I didn't think that was even possible.

I know. If I can just briefly get out the tiny violin of our friendship,

I feel like seeing this movie with you

is one of the first things I remember doing with you socially, like when I knew you as a colleague,

but I didn't necessarily have you over Thanksgiving and we know each other's pets, et cetera.

And I sort of feel like we owe some of it to Mama Mia. And I actually remember sitting next to you during the movie thinking, I wonder if June is liking this as much as me.

And, of course, afterwards, I found out that we were both completely, completely loving it.

So if you want to hear us talk 10 years ago about the first Mamma Mia,

we did spoil that back in the day, didn't we?

We sure did.
