What's going on everybody? Welcome back to the Mind Over Macros Podcast. As always, I'm

0:09.3

your host Mike Milner and I would really feel uncomfortable if I didn't address the events that took

0:18.6

place on Sunday. I have been admittedly struggling a lot these last couple of days. I'm recording this on

0:27.7

Tuesday so you know Sunday and Monday and even today I've been there's been a lot of tears shed

0:36.2

there's been a lot of deep reflection and just a lot of you, feeling like I'm in a bad dream and obviously I'm

0:46.5

referring to the helicopter crash with Kobe Bryant, his daughter and nine people in total.

0:55.2

And, you know, to, you know, it really was something

0:59.8

that just, it hit me in the gut, it hit me hard hard I did not expect it to impact me the way that it did

1:06.4

and it's been you know for the first time that I can remember I actually you know was was crying during my

1:15.6

workout I was struggling to get through my workout because I was so emotional

1:19.4

and a lot of it had to do with and I don't want this to seem like I'm, you know, ignoring the other passengers and what their families must be going through and, but you know, talking about Kobe, you know talking about Kobe you know a lot of it has to do with feeling like

1:38.2

the world has been shortchanged and robbed an impact that had yet to come because you know I'm a

1:46.7

I'm a huge basketball fan so I respected Kobe's game and his work ethic was well documented, his commitment to excellence, his leadership,

1:57.0

just the mamba mentality on the court, you know, that was something that I admired, but it was really the fact that I truly

2:06.4

felt like his best, his greatest impact was not yet. It was about to happen. it was kind of in the process of happening I think that he was just starting to kind of find himself after basketball

2:20.6

in coaching his daughter and using women's basketball as a vehicle to create impact in the person that he was becoming and you know I think that it is it just feels wrong that we've been that the impact that would have been created was taken way too soon and that's what I've been struggling with like the why behind you know this this

2:48.4

guy who had the opportunity who had the platform who had the global reach and the opportunity

2:56.5

to do so much still in his life and impact so many more people to have that taken it's just it's brought up a lot of questions

3:06.3

and it's been hard for me to sit with and I've been struggling with it and I wanted to just

3:12.4

give my take for whatever it's worth on kind of how we move forward and I think that first and foremost you know it I hate that these are the reminders that we need sometimes to realize just how

3:28.5

fricking precious life is and how grateful we need to be for every second that we're here because it really is such a blip.

3:35.9

It's such a snippet of time. It flies by and we never know you know when that last moment is going to be.
