Hello there and welcome to the thinking fellow's podcast. My name is Caleb. And this week, I'm just

joined by my father, Dr. Scott Keith. We are recording the week of Christmas, and this is our Christmas

week episode. And to be honest, we were sitting here struggling with what to do. We thought, you know, at first I thought maybe we'll

imitate Dr. Paulson on the Outlaw God podcast this week. He came up with a brilliant idea.

Production work there goes, the credit goes to him this week, where he basically walked everybody

through a hymn. And it was from heaven above to earth I come, Christmas hymn.

We should just play that as the Thinking Fellows episode for this.

Yeah, we probably should.

The hymn was written by Martin Luther, and I thought he did a great job.

He didn't read every line of the hymn.

He just sort of did it as he spoke. It was very

organic. I wish it was a skill that we had. We quickly picked up our hymnals and as we were

searching for him to do it, realized, this is not going to work. So even though I think it's a

wonderful idea. Oh, that's great. I'd love to hear. I will listen to that podcast. And I actually, I think it's a great idea for podcasts in the future as well, because

hymns, I mean, we've said it on episodes before, and we actually said it on the episode

last week. We were talking about church seasons and the things that have been handed down

to us is that there's some great theology packed in there and part of it is to

help keep the proclamation of the gospel going in one of the ways that people have done that

through centuries is by well-written hymns well-written hymns well-was apparent the night that we did

the um the christmas get together at the ruffner's and we sang Christmas carols for like 45 minutes.

Right.

It was apparent that one of the great things about our hymnal or having a hymnal that people have put some thought and time into putting together,
