My guest, Gary Meese is the author of three books on the West Memphis Three.

and the third book, The Case Against the West Memphis Three Killers. He also has his own podcast on Pod Bean called, once again,

the case against the West Memphis 3 killers. On his podcast, he breaks down all the evidence

against the West Memphis 3, and he knows everything about that case. He's joining me today to talk about the role

public relations plays in criminal cases. Welcome Gary Meese. Hi, Roberta. Thank you so much

for doing this. I wrote you asking if you wanted to do this episode.

You said, oh, yeah, I'm intensely interested in this subject now.

What makes you intensely interested in it?

Well, partially because I see a huge trend going where the whole idea of people being guilty is somehow being tossed aside.

I mean, needless to say, there was a lot of unrest,

and obviously people who are being arrested

are not going to be convicted of anything

if they die in the process of being arrested.

But, you know, one of these people aren't good people.

They're not good guys, and they're breaking the law while this is going on, and they're getting a huge pass.

I also just see things such as just a continuing thing with things like making a murderer, and, of course, I'm Paradise Lost, but, you know, they're just year after year, there's more and more, there's more and more of a trend toward the idea that there are all these people in prison with wrongful convictions.

Kim Kardashian's been pushing this very hard.

And so we got the case, for instance, of the lady from Memphis, Tennessee,

and I can't think of her name right now, who, you know, I think she served 22 years in prison.
