Welcome back. This is the big blue banter. New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier.

0:11.8

Join Zoe's my co-ist, Nick Vallado. There will be no preamble today. We want to roll right into

0:15.9

these questions for the mailbag because there's a lot of them. We want to try to get to all

0:19.8

them. We might not based on time restrictions for both me and Nick. So without further ado, Chris no longer in St. Pete,

0:26.3

used to be in St. Pete, asks, what do you guys think the current weakest unit through the first two

0:32.2

games is? For example, is it the interior offensive line, the linebackers, the wide receivers, or the secondary, specifically the cornerback two position? I think I have to go with the linebackers, right? I mean, the coaching staff said as much, and it could be game plan specific because they were going against Christian McCaffrey and the Carolina Panthers who tend to have a lot of speed on their side, but they

0:54.1

didn't want to play anybody behind Tate Crowder. And honestly, I don't know how much they really want to play Tate Crowder. So I think you could make an argument for the wide receivers, the secondary piece, although I thought Cordell Flot and Monroe played pretty solid opposite of a Dory Jackson with all things considered. But I had to pick one. I think I'm going to go linebacker. It definitely wouldn't be corner for me. Receivers is interesting. They have had some openings to Jones Miss. They've also not creating separation times when they wish they could. I'm not going to go there either. I think the right answer, the way Nick lawyered it there, was linebackers because it is true.

1:28.6

Like, they're literally not playing these guys.

1:30.6

What does that tell you?

1:32.1

But I'm going to go with the interior offensive line here because I do think the interior

1:36.3

offense line has been pretty damn bad in past production.

1:39.0

Like, there's not really much to go off of.

1:41.2

There's a few good reps basically at best.

1:43.8

But this has been a bad interior offensive line. We should have known this was going to happen. We knew, but we didn't, I don't know, we knew, man. Like, we knew, we knew. We have, we have Feliciano. We have like a Zudu, a rookie, and Gloinski, who is a solid player, but there's a reason why no one went crazy over signing him in free agency,

2:02.2

because he's a good run blocker, and he's probably a average to below average pass protector,

2:06.8

to be completely honest. So it is what it is, but I would go with that unit.

2:10.7

The one reason why I didn't mention that unit is because they'd been pretty damn good as run blocking unit.

2:16.6

Now, not as much in Carolina. I think a lot of that was due to what Carolina was doing. That's also prompting Carolina to do something to stop the run by bringing those linebackers so aggressively, which Mike Kafka had success making them pay off the play action bootlegs and the play action rollouts and things like that, the naked bootleg that they used, I think, two different times.

2:34.9

They had success with those two plays.

2:36.4

And if the Giants passing attack and their wide receivers can do a little bit more on that end, then they can really make them pay, which would slow down those linebackers, which would open up more holes to run the football. So it's all freaking related, you know. But Alex Bustin, nice name, asks, how can the Giants recover from the Gala Day contract?

2:36.2

And when would it happen? freaking related, you know, but Alex Bustin, nice name, asks, how can the Giants recover from the
