So welcome back to the second session of this retreat, which is on Mahavakya, the Vibhika of the Mahavakas, analysis of Mahavakias,

we will postpone the discussion of the Mahavakas a little bit

and I'll give a short technical background to this whole discussion.

So the four Mahavakias, which are convention is taken, they have some other designations also.

For example, Pragyanam Braggianamam Brahma, which we did in the morning,

which is from AITADI Upanishad, the Rig Vedic Mahavakia, is called the Lakshana Vakya, definitional

statement. Then Aham Brahmasami, the Mahavakia from the Yajur Vedah Bha, Bhaararnik Upanishad is called Anusandhana Vakya.

Anusandhana Vakya, a statement for practice.

And Tatuamasi, the Mahavakya from the Samhveda, Shandogya Upanishad, is called Upadeshavakya.

That means a statement for instruction, what the guru tells the student.
