Namaste everybody. It's such a pleasure to be back with your group again this year.

Although we are restricted by the pandemic, but luckily thanks to this technology, we are able to meet and do some Vedantah.

And the subject also has been nicely chosen by Prabhiji. In this short this is doable we have a chapter with a few

verses only eight verses it's the shortest chapter in Panchadashi so what I'll do is I'll

talk for a short while maybe 45 minutes to maximum one hour, and then we'll take questions.

As we go along, you'll have questions. You can write it down in the chat or raise your hand,

and then we will take up the questions. So we have two sessions each day, today, two sessions, and two tomorrow.

The book, we are all well acquainted with this, Panchadashi. It's one of the

classics of post-Shankara Vedanta, written by Vidyaranya Swami more than 600 years ago in the

Vijaynagar kingdom. And for those who are interested in the study of classical Adwaita Vedanta,

this is an absolute must, the panchalashi.

It takes its name from the 15 chapters.

So 15 chapters, which are divided into three groups of five each.

So the first group is five chapters on what is called Viveka, on the analysis of discernment. And this chapter,

the fifth one, is at the end of this first triad, the first third of the book. So it's the last

chapter of the Viveka section, fifth chapter. What does it deal with? It deals with the essence of Vedantam.

Mahavakya, we are acquainted with this term in Vedantah. Mahavakia gives us the essence of

Vedantah in the short span in the compass of one sentence.

So we are acquainted with the different Mahavakias

in the Taitia, I'm sorry,
