Summary

Bhagirath and Ganga

Rishi Lomapada tells Yudhistira and his entourage the tale of Bhagiratha and how he brought Ganga from the heavens to the earth and then led her to the oceans, thus forming the mighty river.

He then tells them the story of Rishwasringa and how he was seduced by a clever courtesan who brought the young Rishi to the Kingdom of Anga to help bring rains to the cursed land.

1:08.0	Long ago they lived a king named Sager of the Ikshashu Dynasty. The king didn't have any sons.
1:17.0	Advised by spiritual gurus, King Sagar, along with his two queens, went to the Kailash mountains to pray to Lord Shiva

1:28.6	With Shiva's blessings, the king had 60,000 sons from his first wife and only one son from his second wife.
1:41.6	When the sons grew up, Sager decided to perform the horse sacrifice or Ashwa Mehah Yagna.
1:50.2	The sacrificial horse roamed around the country with 60,000 princess in guard.
1:57.8	One day the horse wandered down to the edge of the dry ocean and disappeared.
2:04.0	Sagard's sons were worried.
2:06.0	They searched every inch of the surrounding meadows but couldn't find the horse.
2:11.0	They dug into the ocean bed and killed any living being
2:15.2	that came their way. At last, on the northeast edge of the ocean floor they found
2:22.2	the horse grazing near the hermitage of the ocean floor, they found the horse grazing near the hermitage of Rishi Kapil.
2:28.4	The Sagar's son's thought, Kapil must have stolen the horse.
2:33.0	The angry princess attacked Kappel to punish him.
2:37.0	But the moment the Rishy's blazing eyes fell on them,
2:41.0	the 60,000 princess burned to ashes in an instant.
