Trump is saying now that he's thinking about designating the Mexican cartels as a terrorist organization,

insinuating that means the US is going to fight them in a physical way, more so than just at the border.

He said that the cartels are in league with the government, which, to be honest, from the research I've done,

in some ways they are, like due to corruption, but not quite how he's trying to make out.

And is it even going to work at all?

So Trump has signed an executive order that could lead to the designation of certain, you know, so-called cartels as foreign terrorist organizations or FTOs.

The executive order is a little wonky.

Like, he, you know, well, the order itself is not wonky.

The process is he asked the State Department to identify certain drug trafficking networks or cartels to be labeled as foreign terrorist organizations.

We're now sort of waiting for the State Department to come back with their recommendations.

And it must be said that like the executive order itself is almost comically vague and broad, right?

It's political theater.

I mean, this is all political theater, and we'll get into that.

But basically, it expresses the Trump administration's position, which is that certain drug trafficking
