After weeks of watching MAGA lawmakers and far right talking heads spout disgusting, hateful rhetoric, I wanted to get something off my chest. I wanted to break down all the ways in which Trump’s GOP is far more vicious than it was even just a few years ago. In 2016, there was an expression pundits used to describe Trump policies: “the cruelty is the point.” It was an apt mantra at the time. But I don’t think it works in 2024.
