Piper Jaffray analyst Build it beautiful. Piper Jeffrey analyst Gene Munster hit Thursday with a dead simple analysis on the future of iPhone sales.

They're going to go up.

That's thanks to all the leasing plans or installment plans being offered

in the U.S. by Apple and the Carriers. Barons busted out bits of the note he issued

two investors. Pulling parts from that, we expect the upgrade cycle in the

U.S. to shorten from around 22 months to 15 months, based on our assumption that

75 percent of U.S. iPhone consumers become annual

upgraders by the end of 2018 from about 10 percent today.

And we believe the impact of the narrowing upgrade window could provide an

average annual tailwind of 10% to US

iPhone units over the next three years through calendar year 2018 and that's just

here in the states if Apple can encourage and or duplicate such plans in other countries, guess what? More iPhone sold.

But again, they don't have to do that for two to three years in Munster's estimation since with

the US upgrade plans he sees a 10% increase in annual iPhone sales in the states through

2018.

Munster also thinks Apple may do a mobile virtual network operator thing or MBNO at some point in the future,
