offline for maintenance for what seemed a really long time.

Not being one regularly accessed Apple's developer, I didn't feel like it's

say whether it really was a long time, or if this was just a case of people feeling as if

access to something they wanted or needed was taking forever.

As of this writing, the developer site is still down,

and now we know why.

A number of listeners, members of Apple's developer program, sent me a copy of the email that Apple sent them on Sunday,

letting them know that the developer site had been hacked.

Well, visited by an intruder, to put it in more genteel terms, and perhaps more accurate terms.

Quoting Apple's email, last Thursday an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered

developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and

cannot be accessed, however we have not been able to rule out the possibility

that some developer's names, mailing addresses, and or email addresses may have been
