together for ESPN the theme here for the patriots it's a marathon not a sprint they have

joint practices coming up against the panthers and Raiders in the next

couple weeks. Preseason games against them, no urgency they feel to put Mack or any of the

starters on the field tonight.

And that was Mike Reese reporting. What we all know by now, that is.

Turns out Mac Jones and the starters will not be playing tonight in preseason game number one,

Maz and Murray are back in our temporary time for our tire studios in Needham at the NBC Media Group. I am remote. Mas Murray, how are you guys doing? Can you hear me? Good, good, good. Peachy, peachy. So what do you make of Mac Jones and the starters are not playing in this ballgame? I mean, I'm not shocked. It sucks, but I'm not shocked. they thought it was going this way. I don't think they're ready. And when I say that, I don't say that as some sort of explanation or excuse. I think it's more of a commentary on how camp has gone. I said this to you yesterday. I don't think Bill Belichick has them ready to start games. I don't think they're there. And to me, the whole

thing has gone, you know, sideways from the beginning. And so if you were to ask me what Bill's

initial plan was, I think it's different than what is happening tonight. Does that make sense?
