Welcome to the Book of Mormon Central Come Follow Me podcast with your host, Lynn Wilson and John

Joe. Hello, nice to be with you again. Yeah. So this week we're covering more of the

0:10.2

minor prophets. Nahom, Habakkuk, and Zefaniah. Three fabulous prophets and they come at a really

0:18.0

nice chronological time, but do you want to talk about our emphasis first?

0:21.6

Yeah, so how does this bring me closer to Christ?

0:24.4

How does the book Mormon help me understand the Old Testament?

0:27.1

And how does this help me live a more Christ-like life?

0:29.4

And all three of these prophets have testimonies of the coming Messiah,

0:33.8

and all of these three of these prophets are consistent with the time period that Lehi was preaching

1:23.9

end. So that's how I'm remembering that one. The word Nahom, comfort or consolation, is sometimes used in the same roots as mourning, as a place of mourning. And it's interesting, if you take out the vowels, it's consistent with the same word in the book of Mormon, that land where they buried Ishmael.

1:45.3

Okay.

1:45.6

The land was named Neholm.

1:49.6

And it was not a land that they named, like the waters of laymen and the valley of lemuel or vice versa.

1:55.8

This one was actually a place where a burial ground was.

2:00.7

It's in fact the largest burial ground in all of the Sinai Peninsula. And it has this root of the same here as our prophet, Nahom, who is one who gives comfort as well. We don't know much about the man himself. He's a poet. His whole book is one long, beautiful poem, and it describes
