| 0:00.0 | Welcome to the Book of Mormon Central Come Follow Me podcast with your host, Lynn Wilson and John Show. |
| 0:04.3 | Shalom, hello. Nice to be with you to talk about these beautiful minor prophets with a major message, our wonderful Jonah and Micah. |
| 0:12.8 | So we're starting with Jonah. Who's Jonah? What time period you live in? What is the northern tribes are only a little over 100 years old. |
| 0:21.2 | It's during a very wicked time of Jerobolm the second. It's right before the Assyrian conquest |
| 0:27.3 | comes over and takes over the northern kingdoms. First of all, they just become a vassal state for 20 years |
| 0:32.5 | before they're deported in 721. So the time period is roughly about 790 BC to 770 BC because we are told who the king is. |
| 0:44.1 | So we get these general periods of time. But this is really, Jonah is a minor prophet with such a major impact because our Savior uses the sign of Jonah as the sign of his resurrection. |
| 0:56.5 | We have three gospels that quote our Savior saying he will use the sign of Jonah. |

| 1:12.9 | But if we want to look at that time period, it's Second Kings chapter 14. And verse 25 also |
| 1:19.0 | tells us that Jonah preached to these northern kingdoms of Israel and Samaria. It's a similar time |
| 1:25.3 | as Isaiah is preaching down in the south or Micah, maybe a little bit earlier than Micah, but just about this same time period. |
| 1:35.3 | And his testimony, his story is written to witness of the resurrection, even though he's not resurrected. |
| 1:42.3 | It's just that he came back to a chance to live again. |
| 1:46.9 | But this whole concept of who are the Lord's enemies and who are our enemies is brought into |
| 1:52.8 | question in this nice little short book. |
| 1:55.2 | I think for me, one of my favorite themes of this book is the atonement and repentance. |
| 2:02.0 | How about you? |
| 2:02.9 | I think so too. |
| 2:03.9 | I mean, what's stuff to me in this most recent reading was that the Lord rewards good behavior regardless of race, which we talk about in the New Testament a little bit later, right? |
| 2:15.5 | Yes. |
| 2:16.1 | Yes, it doesn't matter if you're not from the Trojan tribe. |
