I hope you're well and I hope you're still enjoying the new direction of this podcast.

This year we've been moving really towards quite an optimistic place.

0:12.5

We're trying to talk about restoring our society, restoring ourselves, restoring our mental health

0:19.2

as much as we can. And I'm also very interested in restoring our physical health and not just

0:24.6

restoring but actually preventing things from going wrong. I've always been someone who's

0:29.1

waited until the house is burning down before I kind of react and then have to go to a doctor

0:34.4

and an emergency. And now that I'm right in the middle of my 30s, on my way, steadfast to my 40s,

which is a chronic health condition that impacts every part of my body and is so fucking

1:03.6

that I'm just going to suffer. So I'm just going to sit here and allow that to happen. But I don't

1:08.3

know what's changed. Maybe it was the pandemic. I'm sick of it. Sick of always waiting only for the

1:14.8

mainstream incredibly expensive and incredibly tedious healthcare system to know how to treat

1:20.4

especially a woman. It's so hard as a woman to be understood or believed by the fucking healthcare

1:26.5

world. So I like conversations like the one I'm having today that feel like holistic and soothing

1:32.6

and preventative, even though it's actually based in mainstream medicine. I invited certified

1:38.6

lymphedema therapist Lisa Levitt Gaines Leon to explain lymphatic systems to us what they are,

1:44.4

how they work, the purpose they serve and why it's so important to look after them, whether it's

1:49.4

before you get illness or after or after you've had something like chemotherapy, the lymph is so

1:54.2

important. Now we might have heard about lymph since we were children because it's often what
