The crimes of Lucy Letby cast a haunting shadow over the world of healthcare, with it’s darkness still observed almost a decade later... Within the sterile walls of the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital, Nurse Letby committed acts of unspeakable, unforgivable horror. The very place where parents had entrusted their newborns to receive life-saving care became a nightmarish setting for the alleged murder of innocent infants. Like Doctor Shipman in the 70s, 80s and 90s, and like Nurse Allitt in the early 90s, the thought of someone entrusted with the care of vulnerable, defenceless individuals turning into a sinister figure of evil is nothing short of terrifying… With the chilling question lingering that many struggle to comprehend: How and why could such darkness hide behind the facade of a paediatric nurse?
