The NBA draft lottery is over and the New Orleans Pelicans spent the last seven years

failing to put an adequate team around the last generational prospect to go number one in the NBA draft

and now they will get a chance to try again with a new management group, new owner, Zion Williamson

going to the New Orleans Pelicans in all likelihood here as the number one overall pick.

A lot to unpack in this lottery will do that first that we've got to get to Portland and Golden

State. Some more news that has come in as well here, but what stood out to you the most

from the lottery as far as what the consequences are? We really did see the impact of both forms of

reform that happened. So the one that got a lot more attention was the equalling or balancing out

comparatively of the odds. So the best the best odds were only 14% the Nick ended up, you know,

not getting the number one pick, but balancing that out more across the board, you know, these

some of these low chances really did pay off for teams and so that that had a couple ripple effects.

One was those teams moving up. Of course, that's a really obvious one, but another one that was

really important was some teams moving down and moving down significantly. That was that's important

and some of those are the the most talent bereft teams in the league. I thought that's really

important. But then the other thing that that hasn't gotten as much attention and I want to take

a beat to talk about it is moving from three lottery lottery like three teams being chosen by

the lottery to four. I think that was significant as well because that gave Cleveland and Phoenix in

particular more room to fall. There was there's no guarantee that if you had the worst record, you

were going to you were going to finish no worse than fourth. And if you had the second worst,

you're going to finish no worse than fifth. There was there was more room and we saw some of that

come into play. So not only did you have unlikely teams moving up, but throughout the lottery,

you had a lot of teams moving down and how much that matters. You know, you and I haven't done
