Imagine living in fear of being kidnapped,

extorted for money, or simply made to disappear.

This was the case for Colombians,

in what was known as Latin America's longest civil war.

For over 50 years, the Colombian government

fought the revolutionary armed forces of Colombia,

or the FARC, a guerrilla army that survived mostly

in the southern jungles of the country.
