I'm in my office reading an article in the Washington Times.

And that article titled Evangelical Lutheran LGBT Ministry Group

suspends first transgender bishop goes on to point out that their suspension is a direct

function over allegations that this transgender bishop used racist words and actions.

So here you have a ministry group for the evangelical Lutherans who suspends not just a clergyman, but a bishop, a transgender bishop named Megan Rourer.

And the mission of this ministry group is to publicly support Lutheran clergy that

identify as queer.

Now, we're not talking about an insignificant group of people.

This evangelical Lutheran body has some 3.3 million baptized members.

As I read this article in the Washington Times, I cannot help but think of Dezidarius Erasmus,

who warned about unloosing a floodgate of iniquity.

Once you are loosed from the restraining fetters of apostolic tradition, of the creeds,

of the ecumenical councils,

you can reimagine the church in such a way

that it is no longer the hope of civilization,

but rather becomes a destructive force in civilization.
