I'm entertainment writer Jim Hill, and my co-host Brian Gone and I are recording this week's show on Sunday, September 10th, 2023.

And as we record this, destination D23, a two-day long gathering of the members of the official Disney fan club,

is wrapping up at the contemporary hotel at the Walt Disney World Resort. And I'm sure over the past weekend you saw that some Lucasfilm-related news bubbled up from that event.

Bubble up is the right word. Okay. It was, it was like, and when they announced it too, it was like, if you sneezed, you missed it.

Type of thing. Okay, a couple of reasons for that. Now, first of all, let's, let's assume that some of the folks listening to this podcast aren't aware of what kind of now.

So, the Indiana Jones adventure, which has been entertaining guests at Disneyland Park in California since March of 1995, and also Inter.

Wow. Oh, cool, cool, cool. It rained the whole day. Oh, and we had a buyer $5 yellow Disney ponchos.

There you go. We rode it twice. Oh, okay. And I scared the hell out of everybody because I figured out the, the whole thing about the

wall or the ceiling falling down. So I was the, the nasty little kid that would scare people to death.

I just, he had to move the pole. And I would move it and it would

get people running in the queue. There we go. Okay. Also worth noting, Indiana Jones adventure, there's another one folks.

And that's been entertaining, uh, if it was to Tokyo Disney C since that park opened in September of 2001.

Is it the same thing? Well, no. Okay. It's not forbidden. No, actually in Japan, it's the temple of the crystal skull.

Not what's, oh, cool. Fascinating about that. Is it that theming, that idea predates the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal

Skull movie by more than seven years. That Spielberg movie wouldn't actually open in theaters till May of 2008.

Anyway, what was revealed at destination D23 was that the Indiana Jones adventure is reportedly being

considered as a possible replacement for dinosaur, the ride at which when Disney's Animal Kingdom first

opened back in April of 1998 was originally known as Countdown to extinction. Also worth noting

here that in 2024, Star Tours, the adventures continue, the attraction of Disneyland Park and

Anaheim, Disney Hollywood Studios and Florida, and Disneyland Paris and France, but curiously not

...
