What's up, Laker fans? Welcome to the Laker Film Room podcast. I'm Pete, joined by Darius.

And today we do a trade and free agency mailbag. A lot of the pods recently have been

trying to orient ourselves to where we are in the off season. And I wanted to take some of

your questions.

Thank you for the great questions from Twitter and Blue Sky. And so let's start with

1D that I may just take myself jump in if you want to add to this. But Peter asks,

why are the Lakers prioritizing max slot cap space in two years when we have not seen any

max player switch teams in the offseason since

LeBron eight years ago. I wanted to start with this because it's important to clarify.

They are not trying to save cap space for two years from now, and they are trying to acquire

the star, who I believe is Janus in this case, with a trade in the same way that they acquired Luca. So this is just a little thing I wanted to clarify. It sounds like, oh, we got Luca and now let's wait for two years and we're going to sign Janus in free agency. That's not the plan. The plan I think is to trade for him over the course of this offseason. And then if plan A and him does not work out, then there are plan B and C, et cetera, and that we could talk more about over the course of time.

But I just wanted to clarify that because I do think it provides the backdrop for a lot of this off season.
