Davos, meeting in a village in Switzerland,

a conversation between lords and ladies,

and leaders of important governments around the world

about the near future and the recovery from the pandemic.

This year, live, people appearing no longer in remote

or worried about the pandemic,

but worried about the recovery.

So I welcome Joseph Sternberg,

a member of the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal.

He writes the political economics column from London.

It is first to certify that Joe did not attend Davos,

and then we will measure what we learn from the Davos remarks this year,

chiefly by people we all know very well.

Al Gore, the former vice president,

John Kerry, the climate czar for the Biden administration,

and Joe Manchin was in attendance as well,

talking about the inflation reduction act of 2022.

All these are green matters,

and that weighs upon the Davos decision makers.
