I'm with my dear friend Germanicus, Lejos. We've been discussing the 21st century

but I want to discuss the Iliad just a moment. Germanicus one more time I've reviewed the Iliad and while I find many admirable

things in it I resent the Iliad because we Romans have been committed to this cycle of who is Achilles, who is going to bring

down the walls of Troy, who is Odysseus to trick the Trojans and get the horse inside.

All of those stories, we worry about them all the time.

We have our own version and Neid, but it's not anywhere near as transporting as the original Iliad.

So I ask you, the Iliad, from your point of view, because you're much more familiar with it than I am and you had the classics to study it. I just read it in the best I can.

The Iliad has a drama and it has dramas within the dramas. Helen is

kidnapped. Zeus is probably in charge of this. He's a troublemaker but Helen is kidnapped by Paris and

Agamamemnon's brother Manalaeus is heartbroken because Helen was the most beautiful woman on earth

So he convinces his older brother Agamemnon

to gather the Greeks, the Aikians, and sail to Troy

and put it under siege.

Nine and a half years later,

we come to the drama that we know is the Iliad.

Achilles, let's make this a simple question.

Achilles is a killing machine, he's a war machine.
