Summary

The banged-up Warriors took two Ls this weekend, one on the segababa, and one in the ABC afternoon matinee—both without Stephen Curry, David West, Andre Iguodala, Jordan Bell and Patrick McCaw. But in the true spirit of the "next man up" mentality, the available Dubs fought with passion before their energies fizzled out late in both games. Kevin Durant put up 40 and 39 points respectively, but against Portland, the Warriors were outrebounded by 14, and vs. Minny they allowed 58 points in the paint. Neither outcome is a recipe for a win. Having lost their last two games, the Dubs are now 2 games back of Houston in the loss column. But do they really need the No. 1 seed to make it back to the Finals for the fourth time in a row? Aliko looks at historical trends going back to 2000 to see which champions won the regular season, and which ones simply made it through to peak at the right time and take out the "better" team. And make no mistake, despite the standings based on talent and chemistry the Warriors at full strength are better than the Rockets. Learn more about your ad choices. Greetings, Hoops Heads, welcome to Locked On Warriors, part of the Locked-on Podcast Network,

0:24.8

your team every day. It's Monday, March 12th. I'm your host, Aliko Carter. Tough two-game stretch

0:33.0

for the Warriors, really tough. Close games on Friday and on Sunday but without Stefan Curry the

0:38.6

Warriors weren't able to get over the hump despite some heroics from Kevin Durant and

0:43.7

some good play from down the roster and so the question is are the Warriors going to get

0:48.8

the number one overall seed and the answer is we don't know yet there's still 16 games to go. And it's not clear, but in that

0:57.2

third segment, what I want to do is go down the list over the past 20 or so years and see who won

1:03.8

the championship and whether or not they had the number one overall seed. I want to check out the paths

1:09.0

that champions have had to take to get to the promised land and

1:12.4

hopefully allay some fears that the warriors are going to have some trouble going through Houston

1:17.8

in the conference finals if they do make it that far. In the first segment we're going to talk about

1:24.0

the game against the Blazers and in the second segment we're going to talk about the loss to the Minnesotazers. And in the second segment, we're going to talk about

1:28.1

the loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. I appreciate all my new listeners. You can find my written
