Today on the podcast, I want to talk about the top end of this edge rusher class,

you know, five guys that I could see the Steelers taking in either the second or third round of this draft.

The Steelers have gone edge rusher in two of the past three seasons in the first round.

Bud Dupree in 2015, T.J. Watt last season, two very different players.

Bud Dupree, much more of a size and speed guy, raw athleticism, still needed to work on technique

when it came to the pass rush.

T.J. Watt, much more of a polished player, but questions for him were about whether or not he was a

one-year wonder, whether or not he was a little overrated just because he was a Watt brother.

We'll see what the Steelers do this year, but they're not going to be drafting for a starter,

no matter what, right? Bud Dupree and T.J. Watt are the starting outside linebacker, edge rushers for this team. Depth, though, is going to be necessary.

Anthony Chiccolo and Keon Adams are behind them, but it's no longer James Harrison, Anthony

Chikolo, Arthur Motes, right? It's Anthony Chicholo and rookie Keon Adams, well, not a rookie, but

essentially a rookie being that Keon Adams, who was a rookie last season, sat out the entire year with injury.

There is room for competition here. There's certainly room for competition. And we talk about edge rushers,

but for the Steelers, it's really not an edge rusher, right? Bud Dupree is not rushing the passer

every down, neither is T.J. Watt. The Steelers really ask these guys to both rush the passer but also drop into coverage far more often than they ever

have the Steelers ever have. So as we evaluate these players, you got to take that into account as well.

That it can't just all be about the pass rush. It's got to be their ability to rush the passer,

but also get into coverage. Before we get into that, let's talk about some Steelers news and

notes.
