Liz, I was just sharing with the women your beautiful Advent devotional, this book that is so you.

It is such a glimpse into your heart and soul.

And I'm so grateful because I know what they're going to be receiving when they read this book.

They don't yet know what's in store

for them this advent but first and foremost can i just ask you to introduce yourself

sure i'm liz kelly i worked as a professor for many years in catholic studies at the university

of st thomas and I ran their academic journal.

And along the way I just started giving talks and retreats. Women started coming to me saying,

do you do spiritual direction? I'm like, can lay people even do that? I didn't, you know, I didn't know.

So I went to, my brother is a priest,

and I went to some of priest brothers that I just trust so well, and I asked him, where should a lay

person be trained for spiritual direction? And they gave me the list of a couple of places so I

ended up going I started folding in spiritual direction and you know since the

time I was a kid I would say I still remember the first retreat I went on we

were in the sixth grade and the nuns took us to this retreat center and I remember

there being something very special about going away to seek the face of the Lord. Some incredible

grace was unleashed in that and I've just had such a strong draw to that my whole life.

And I learned sort of along the way that I had a capacity to write about that experience.

That was helpful to people.

And so things just kind of naturally, organically moved the way they have now where I travel and speak and lead

retreats and write and I love it I'm very grateful for my life and you're so good at

it Liz you're so your heart is is such a gift at your capacity to listen.
