and that it would be the strongest and most terrifying since records began.

Jamaican officials telling me they are taking every precaution

for what could be a historic event here on the island

over the next several days.

The weather coming in, I think this one is different.

This one is going to impact us hard.

But Hurricane Melissa landed on Jamaica with a power and an intensity that was unprecedented.

As ferocious as it was frightening.

These islands are now under serial threat from catastrophic weather events.

The kind of extreme storms that are being turbocharged by the climate crisis.

And for the people living there, it's a waking nightmare.
