Summary

On this day 11 years ago in 2009, Liverpool draw 4-4 with an-Andrey Arshavin inspired Arsenal at Anfield in one of the greatest matches in Premier League history. The point did take Rafa Benitez's Reds to the top of the table, but in spite of Yossi Benayoun's last-gasp equaliser, the result handed the title initiative to eventual champions Manchester United. However, although Liverpool ended the 2008-09 season empty-handed, it was a season that contained that so many happy memories, which Paul Wheelock and Dan Kay look back on in our latest Liverpool Classics podcast. Also on the agenda are Fernando Torres, the Reds' other two-goal scorer on a night filled with drama, and the manager, himself, and why there was no shame in Benitez being unable to follow up his Champions League success with that prized Premier League title.
