I'm Jackie Leonard and we are with a live audience in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to talk about

what summer calling the cost of living crisis.

In other words, that global phenomenon of everyday essentials spiraling in price and fast

outpacing income.

The pandemic, war and climate change have affected and are affecting the production and

transport of goods.

But what are the implications of what's going on?

How might those in power respond and how are the rest of us coping?

Let's begin by introducing our panel.

Sir and Janita Wari is the BBC's Asia Business Correspondent based in Singapore, covering

business and economics across the region, including the world's second biggest economy

China.

She previously led the BBC's business teams in India at a time when the economy there

went from rapid growth to a slowdown.

She also has worked in Doha and London.

Jonathan Head is the BBC's Southeast Asia Correspondent.

He joined the BBC in 1989 and since then has been based in Indonesia, Singapore, Japan

and Turkey.

For the past 10 years he's been working out of Bangkok.

He has also reported from Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya.

He brings with him an encyclopedic knowledge of the region.
