I'm Jose Negron from DK. Pittsburgh Sports.

The Pirates with a 5-1 victory over the Tampa Bay raise to begin this weekend's three-game set here at PNC Park.

The Pirates move to 12 and 8 on the season.

A win that it was pitching led.

I mean, you got to start off with talking about what Bubba Chandler was able to produce in his six

innings of work, six score or six innings of one run ball, I should say,

three hits allowed, walked one, struck out three through 90 pitches, second time in the

big leagues in which he has been able to get to six innings and complete six innings.

And he did what he had to do here tonight, 59 pitches through five innings. He had to grind through

that six through 31 pitches in that inning, gave up one run, got out of some trouble there.

And at that point, you turn it over to the bullpen and you expect those guys in the back end to get

the job done. That's what Mason Montgomery, Gregory Soto, and Dennis Santana did.

They were able to close out the victory, and the bats were kind of slow moving for a good portion of this one. Obviously, they get that early run. They're able to go up one-nothing.

But it took some time to try and, you know, get some things going.

Obviously, O'Neill Cruz comes through in the sixth inning, huge two-run, home run,

really just looked effortless, you know, being able to hit that line drive out to right field,

put the pirates up three to one.

And then Brandon Lau against his former team coming through to add some insurance there late with that two run double had some big at bats he said it doesn't matter who we're going up against you know my my main focus is is producing and that's what he was able to do obviously had to be a little weird for him going up against his former team an organization that prior to this season was the only organization that he knew. So maybe a little bit of motivation going in there,

but he's able to go out and get some big hits, three hit night for him. Spencer Horowitz had three

hits, which I guess segue into what Spencer Horowitz has been able to provide.
