Summary

We've come full circle! The very first guests on this podcast, two years ago, were the Paris band Slim & the Beast. They're the guys who wrote the original jingle, the honeymoon theme, and they've done several live videos with me before.

Now, they're back in the studio and they're armed with a few new songs and a particularly good cover of a Neil Young classic.

They also talk about how to find good live music in Paris, how Parisian crowds differ from other international audiences, and their upcoming EP.

Enjoy!

If you wanna go straight to the songs (or wanna re-listen, here's where you can find them exactly)

Go for a Ride: 10:54

What it is: 21:50

Neil Young’s Harvest Moon: 33:04

Hello everyone, it is a Monday in Paris. This is the Yearful Tower. My name's Oliver G.

0:04.6

And this podcast is presented by French Today, the guys with the audiobooks helping you learn French.

0:10.4

I'll talk a lot more about them at the very end of the episode. But is this your first episode of the Yearful Tower, your first time listening?

0:18.8

Let me guess. Is your friends send your message saying that

0:21.1

this would be the perfect Paris podcast for you? Is that what happened? Well, I trust your friend's

0:26.3

judgment. I hope you do too. I hope you enjoy this episode and subscribe to it. You've come for a good

0:31.4

one, to be honest, if this is your first one, because it's kind of come full circle. Two years ago

0:36.7

when I started this show, I had today's

0:39.4

guests as my very first episode. It's a band. They're called Slim and the Beast. And they came on two years

0:45.2

ago and they sang a few of their new songs. We talked a little bit about Paris and over the 24 months

0:51.7

that followed this show got a lot bigger and so did they. And now, I don't know,

0:55.7

I felt like going full circle and having them back in the studio again to talk a little bit about

1:00.0

their new music and Paris in general, Paris music scene, that kind of stuff. You're going to be

1:05.2

hearing from all three of them with three songs, and they play two of their own songs and one cover

1:10.1

from Neil Young at the end,

1:12.3

which I thought was particularly fantastic. And what I'm going to do is I'm going to put in

1:15.7

the show notes below at exactly what time the song starts so that if you want to listen to them

1:21.4

separately or if you want to go back and play back some of them, which I've been doing since

1:26.6

the recording, then you'll know exactly where to find them.

1:29.7

But Slim and the Beast, yeah, more from them in a second.

1:33.1

First, a little bit of news.

1:34.6

That's what I often do before an episode starts.
