How do you break into interior design without an interior design degree?

I have a business degree and I graduate soon but I realized I want to go into interior design.

Do I need to start my own business to break into the industry?

Mm. That's a fantastic question, Grace.

Just week a ticket. Yeah, I mean, that's what I did.

I did have this burning desire to do this.

I was doing design work for other people and interiors,

and I was starting to see this need in the marketplace here

in Utah to be able to have a bigger breadth and depth of things that were

missing from the marketplace and for this style that I really loved which at the time was transitional.

We just really had a lot of European Tuscan presence and we just didn't have very many

clean lines and I was trying to do corporate work for a software company which is contemporary and then working on homes as well which you want to be a little bit warmer

Which transitional is a really nice clean way to get that done. So I started my own business but I was

doing design work for probably like I'd say at least five years before I

was like we need to do this and take the plunge. Also, my husband had worked in the furniture industry

before, and we both really, really loved it.

He loved a lot about how it's made,

and he likes to take things apart.

You've seen him kick the tires on it, undo the

cushions, take the zippers out. You know, he gets real physical with stuff and he's

really curious about how it's made and we both really believe in a quality
