Summary

In this episode of the 18Forty Podcast, we listen and respond to feedback from the 18Forty community on the conversations of our Israel at War topic.

Jews live in two different worlds—one before Oct. 7, and one after. The last few months have transformed the Jewish People across denominations, communities, and countries. Prompted by your feedback, we reflect upon those changes. Together, we reflect on those changes. In this episode we discuss:

  • Why are American Jews misunderstanding the Dati Leumi community?
  • What does it mean to be a Jew in a post–Oct. 7 world?
  • In what ways can diaspora Jews aspire to live more like Israeli Jews?

Tune in to hear a conversation about how we might continue forward in pursuit of being a unified Jewish People.

Our own listeners from within the 1840 community have purchased in Eden, an opportunity which

I am so proud that the leaders behind Aden are none other than Rabbi Benny and Khani Krohn. I know them personally because they are the rabbi and Rebitten of my own

0:42.4

personal community and they are the ones leading this new development community. And I know for my own life that

0:49.6

their stewardship, their leadership is you know this is going to be a welcoming, joyous, incredible

0:55.7

community where everyone is going to be able to feel comfortable and build a home.

to find out more. Hi friends and welcome to the 1840 podcasts where each month we explore a different topic balancing modern sensibilities with traditional

1:45.1

sensitivities to give you new approaches to timeless Jewish ideas. I'm your host, David Bishfkin,

1:50.9

and today we're actually going to be going back and responding to a lot of the listener feedback,

1:56.0

though not all of it. There is, thank God, so much. We haven't done an episode like this in a long time,

2:00.5

and there's so much to do, but that's what we're going to be exploring today. This podcast is part of a larger

2:05.3

exploration of those big, juicy, Jewish ideas. So be sure to check out 1840.org, 1-8-F-R-T-Y-R-T-Y.

where you could also find videos, articles, and recommended readings. One of the great joys of 1840 and comforts,

2:20.7

honestly, is the fact that we have created a community of sorts. It is digital, it is online,

and it crosses, you know, geographic boundaries. And there's obviously an advantage and a

disadvantage to that. The advantage is that we're able to connect all together
